ENJOY A DAY OF ARCHITECTURE, CULTURE & MUSIC

Tour the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, followed by a visit and lunch at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM).

Taliesin West

Frank Lloyd Wright is widely considered the most influential architect of the 20th century. He was known for creating "organic architecture", or designs that harmonize with their environment. He designed more than 1,000 structures (over 500 built), including the famous Taliesin West, Fallingwater, and the Guggenheim Museum.

Taliesin West was Wright's beloved winter home and "desert laboratory" from 1937 until his death in 1959. Built by Wright and his apprentices using local "desert masonry," the complex is a masterpiece of organic architecture, designed to blend seamlessly with the McDowell Mountain foothills. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, National Historic Landmark, and home to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

If you are further interested in the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, see our upcoming tour “Pittsburgh & Fallingwater” on October 11 – 15, 2027. https://freespiritvacations.com/Tour/Pittsburgh-Fallingwater

Musical Instrument Museum

Scottsdale’s Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is the world’s largest global instrument museum and houses a collection of more than 7,500 instruments from more than 200 countries. The Geographic Galleries are organized by continent and reflect the diversity and history of many world cultures, through music. There is also an Artist Gallery, displaying instruments from famous musicians like Elvis Presley, Prince, and Madonna, and an Experience Gallery, where guests of all ages can try to play various instruments firsthand.

At MIM, hear, see, and feel the creative spirit of people from around the world. Music and instruments show us what we have in common— music is the language of the soul.
