Experience the enchantment of the Monarch butterfly migration in the serene mountains of Michoacan, Mexico. Amidst the tranquility of the forested landscape, witness the graceful dance of millions of monarch butterflies as they flutter through the air. While the terrain may pose challenges for some, we have a solution that ensures everyone can enjoy this natural wonder. For those seeking a more leisurely exploration, we offer the option to glide through the trails on horseback. Our friendly guides will lead you on a gentle ride, allowing you to savor every moment of the journey.

 

 

There will be a tour in Coyoacan which is known for its cobblestoane streets and colonial architecture.

 

The Freida Kahlo Museum is located in Coyoacan which showcases her life & work.

 

The first expierence with the Monarch Butterfiles will be at the Sierra Chincua Sanctuary.

 

For our second experience with the Monarchs we will travel to the El Rosario Sanctuary on horseback, followed by a short rugged hike into the meadows of the winter habitat of the butterflies.

 

On day 7 we drive by the Piedra Herrada Sanctuary for a final experience with the Monarchs as they come down the mountain to drink on the creek.

Day One

Arrival in Ciudad de Me´xico - On arrival in Mexico City, the vibrant capital, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Your Tour Manager will greet you, followed by a welcome cocktail.

Day Two

Exploring Ciudad de Me´xico - Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, then venture to the charming suburbs of San A´ngel and Coyoaca´n. Visit the lively Bazaar de Sabado in San A´ngel, followed by a tour of Coyoaca´n, including Frida Kahlo’s former home, now an art museum. Enjoy lunch in Coyoaca´n before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Day Three

Toluca and Tlalpujahua - Embark on a journey to Tlapujahua in the state of Michoaca´n. En route, stop at Toluca to explore its botanical garden and stroll through the historic Portales. Continue to El Oro for a glimpse of its mining heritage. Arrive at Hotel Mansion de San Antonio in Tlalpujahua for a Mezcal tasting, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day Four

Sierra Chincua Sanctuary - Explore the Sierra Chincua Sanctuary for another encounter with the Monarch butterflies. After lunch Return to the hotel for a local folkloric performance and dinner. Overnight at Mansion San Antonio.

Day Five

Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary / Valle de Bravo - Visit the Sanctuary of El Rosario to witness the Monarch butterflies in their winter habitat. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the reserve and participate in a reforestation activity at a local nursery. Depart for Valle de Bravo. Dinner at a local restaurant, overnight at Hotel Misio´n.

Day Six

Valle de Bravo - Depart for downtown Valle de Bravo after breakfast. This picturesque town offers cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and a stunning lake view. Enjoy lunch upon arrival and spend the day exploring the town at your leisure.

Day Seven

Ciudad de Me´xico - After breakfast, we drive by the Piedra Herrada sanctuary for a final experience with the Monarchs as they come down the mountain to drink on the creek. Return to Mexico City and explore its historic district enjoying lunch on your own. Check in at the hotel and savor a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
