BARCELONA - Spain's second-largest city, is inextricably linked to the architecture of Antoni Gaudi. His most famous and unfinished masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia, is the emblem of the city.
MAHON - Is a town known since antiquity for its natural harbor. Its coastline includes beautiful natural coves, rocky cliffs, and long beaches. Menorca is an open-air museum with archaeological remains giving evidence of Mediterranean cultures of thousands of years ago.
ST. TROPEZ- Though its beach is far from the best on the French Riviera, the village of St. Tropez has great shopping, a picturesque old town and some very interesting exhibition spaces (including the Marine and the Annonciade museums).
CORSICA (AJACCIO) - A sparkling Mediterranean paradise on the western coast of Corsica, it's clear that Napoleon's storied birthplace is special in more ways than one. The town is easily explored on foot, though it is hard to pry your eyes away from the harbor to venture farther inland.
PORTO CERVO - Surrounded by emerald and crystal-clear blue water, immensely scenic and rocky coast and the rolling hills atypical of the Mediterranean, the Costa Smeralda is a beautiful resort area of Sardinia. Once an exclusive getaway for the jet-set and high-profile yachts, Porto Cervo is a thriving and eclectic destination, humming with activity for a myriad of interests.
FLORENCE/PISA (LIVORN0) - In addition to offering some of the best seafood in the region, the city's pebbly beaches stretch south from the town's seafront, and there is a compact historic quarter. The old Porto Mediceo part of town was laid out in the 1500s by Florentine architect Bernardo Buonattenti for the Medicis.
ROME (CIVITAVECCHIA) - Rome seems to have its own gravitational pull, attracting not only millions of tourists each year, but also the most creative artists and thinkers of every era. All that surrounds a visitor in Romethe stunning art and architecture, the terrible traffic, the grandeur of scale and the lively (almost hyper-animated) citizensguarantees an unforgettable trip.
