SADDLE UP FOR TWO DAYS OF WESTERN FUN & ENTERTAINMENT

The Tucson Rodeo has been taking place for a century! See the fast-paced excitement of live rodeo at the event and learn about the skills and drills during brunch with Chicks n Chaps. You’ll also enjoy a visit to Tombstone where you’ll see the legendary shootout at the O.K. Corral, and take in a show at the western themed Gaslight Theatre. Spend a night at Desert Diamond Casino where you can try your hand with lady luck.

Tombstone is renowned for its wild west past, including the famous shootout at the O.K. Corral. Founded in 1879 during a silver boom, it became a bustling mining town and a hub of lawlessness, violence, and saloons. While the silver boom eventually faded, Tombstone reinvented itself as a tourist destination, capitalizing on its legendary history and preserving its iconic sites.

Gaslight Theatre is a western themed intimate theater that produces musical comedies, holiday shows and concerts throughout the year.

Chick n Chaps is a non-profit organization whose goal is to support those affected by breast cancer while promoting the sport of rodeo and western lifestyle. They host rodeo clinics where attendees can interact with cowboys and cowgirls and enjoy interactively learning about the seven events of professional rodeo.

The Tucson Rodeo, or La Fiesta de los Vaqueros, is a professional rodeo that has been taking place in Tucson since 1925 and is the largest rodeo in Arizona.

Day One

Pack your boots, we’re heading to Tombstone, Arizona! Get into the western spirit as you walk the wooden plank sidewalks down Allen Street. Visit the O.K. Corral where the legendary 1881 gunfight between the lawmen (Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Virgil and Morgan Earp) and the cowboys (Ike and Billy Clanton, Tom and Frank McLaury) took place. The shootout lasted only 30 seconds, but was a pivotal event in the history of the American west. From Tombstone, we’ll head to the Desert Diamond Hotel and Casino. Relax for a bit, or try you luck at the casino. Desert Diamond has hundreds of slot machines, table games, a poker room and bingo. Dinner is included this evening before taking in a show at the western themed Gaslight Theater. Voted Tucson’s best theater, the Gaslight is an intimate theatre that started in 1977 and puts on musical comedies six nights a week.

Day Two

Pull out your pink and put those boots back on! We’re having brunch with Chicks n Chaps before the Tucson Rodeo. Chicks n Chaps is a non-profit Women’s Rodeo Clinic that raises money to support those affected by breast cancer while promoting the sport of rodeo and the western lifestyle. Enjoy a delicious brunch, a fun-filled goodie bag, and the Chicks n Chaps behind the chutes tour. Learn from guest speakers about the human and animal athletes that make up the sport of rodeo and see demonstrations of some of the seven professional rodeo events. After brunch with the cowgirls and cowboys, settle in for an exciting afternoon at the Tucson Rodeo. The ‘Celebration of Cowboys’, or La Fiesta de los Vaqueros, has been taking place in Tucson since 1925. From steer wrestling to bull riding, enjoy the energy and excitement of all seven professional rodeo events.
