Visit the incredible art installation Desert Pulse at the Desert Botanical Garden. Desert Pulse is a large-scale multi-sensory exhibition that creates time-lapses of desert plants. Discover the Sonoran Desert’s hidden life through a stunning photo-realistic video installation and immersive experiences.

 

Unwind amid the serene beauty of the Japanese Friendship Garden in Phoenix—a peaceful escape in the heart of the city. Stroll through the garden to see koi ponds, stone lanterns, waterfalls and traditional plants.

 

For lunch, enjoy a delicious 3-course meal at the historic Old Spaghetti Factory before wrapping up your day with a sweet stop at the Cerreta Candy Company, where you can taste over 50 years of handcrafted candy-making tradition.

 

 

Day Excursion

The Desert Botanical Garden (DBG) is a world-class living museum showcasing more than 50,000 desert plants from around the world. For a limited time, the incredible art exhibition Desert Pulse is on display at DBG. See amazing time-lapse displays of desert plants and landscapes on five monumental video installations. Your ticket to Desert Pulse includes access to the RAF Exhibit Gallery immersive experience and a peek behind the scenes in the ‘Making of Desert Pulse’ gallery. This indoor/outdoor art installation will cultivate a new appreciation for desert life and changes.
Spend time enjoying the historic and tranquil Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix. This serene garden is nestled on 3.5 acres in downtown Phoenix, and features a peaceful stroll garden with koi ponds, waterfalls, streams and more than 50 varieties of plants, including a 650-year-old Sierra juniper bonsai.
When it’s time for lunch, settle in for a hearty 3-course meal at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Located in the historic Roosevelt Neighborhood of Phoenix, the family owned and operated Old Spaghetti Factory has been serving delicious meals since 1969. Start your lunch with a salad, then enjoy your choice of entrée.
Finish off with a scoop of Old Spaghetti Factory’s Signature Spumoni Ice Cream for dessert!
Don’t fill up too much on that ice cream though, because after lunch, it’s off to Cerreta Candy Factory in Glendale for a tour and tasting. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the family-owned company. See the large copper kettles used for caramel and the old school machinery used to create some of their candies. Witness how taffy, chocolate and caramel are made, and sample some of these tasty treats!
