Watch the National Independence Day Parade on Constitution Avenue and experience the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, an exposition of living cultural heritage, on the National Mall.

Day One

Arrive in Washington DC, our nation’s capital! After checking in to the Holiday Inn Washington Capitol – National Mall, join your fellow guests for a welcome dinner (included). This evening, spend some free time on your own.

Day Two

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and fellow guests for a visit to Arlington National Cemetery. During your included tram ride, visit President John F. Kennedy’s gravesite, U.S. Coastguard Memorial, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Memorial Amphitheater and other notable stops. This afternoon, experience the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall. Enjoy lunch on your own at one of the many food trucks and vendors while exploring the festival. This evening dinner is included at a local restaurant.

Day Three

Happy Independence Day! Today, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before taking in a live musical performance by Brass Connection and the Declaration of Independence Reading Ceremony on the steps of the National Archives. This patriotic ceremony includes the Presentation of Colors by the Continental Color Guard, a performance by the Fife and Drum Corps, and a dramatic reading by reenactors portraying historical characters. A box lunch will be provided to you while you enjoy the National Independence Day Parade, a major national event celebrating America’s birthday! (Note: no seating is available at the Parade). After the parade depart for a Monument and Memorial Tour with you guide. Stop at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the National World War II Memorial. After freshening up at the hotel, prepare for a VIP 4th of July experience! Board the Odyssey for an elegant dinner cruise on the Potomac River! Enjoy dinner, dancing and fireworks from the outdoor decks and inside air-conditioned viewing areas.

Day Four

Have breakfast at the hotel before checking out and heading to Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington (pending availability). Tour the mansion and visit the Ford Orientation Center. Enjoy lunch on your own and free time to explore Old Town Alexandria before departing for the airport to return home.
